Dolce Amore V. Descendants Of The Sun: Which Show Wins In The Ratings?

The much-awaited premiere episode of the worldwide hit South Korean drama "Descendants of the Sun" finally aired last after the big-budgeted epic telefantasya "Encantadia".

The pilot episode of military-themed Koreanovela which stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo was pitted against the #DolceAmorePatigasan episode of ABS-CBN's romantic drama series "Dolce Amore" starring Kapamilya hottest loveteam Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano.

I am very sure that fans are now curious to know as to which shows dominated both the AGB Urban Luzon and Kantar/TNS National TV ratings. But first, let's revisit the episode of both shows that dominated the Twitterverse last night.

DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN started with a tense face-off between South Korean and North Korean soldiers.

Captain Lucas Yoo (played by Song Joong Ki) was sent to a mission with his second in command captain Diego (Jin Goo) to rescue their comrades who were hostaged by a group of North Korean soldiers. Lucas and Diego finished their mission successfully but Lucas was stabbed in the abdominal area by the North Korean's commander.
In the following scene, Lucas and Diego are seen firing toy guns at an arcade. The two tried to help an old man who got robbed by a teenager named Marty (played by Kim Min-Seok). Both Lucas and Diego aimed their toy guns on Marty, who was trying to flee from the scene riding a motorcycle. Marty was hit on the face and eventually fell down, breaking some of his bones. Lucas and Diego gave him first aid and sent him to a hospital.
Diego didn't notice that his phone was stolen by Marty while they were giving him first aid. He and Lucas went to the hospital where Marty was being treated.

Dr. Maxine Kang (played by Song Hye Kyo) was attending to Marty's injuries and ended up keeping the soldier's phone. Lucas called Diego's phone that Maxine answered. Maxine didn't believe Lucas' claim and felt that the two were gang leaders trying to hurt Marty. Eventually, Lucas was charmed by Maxine's beauty and tried to hit on her.
They later realized that Marty is missing. Lucas and Diego found him being beaten up by gangsters who were bullying him and his friend.

Lucas and Diego ended up fighting with the gang members to save Marty and brought him back to the hospital to have his injuries treated.

DOLCE AMORE, meanwhile, started with Simon/Tenten (Enrique Gil) talking with his biological mother Vinia (Tetchie Agbayani). She was trying to convince him to withdraw his case against Serena's (Liza Soberano) mom Luciana (Cherie Gil).
The next morning, Simon/Tenten was surprised to see Serena in his room. His adoptive parents Taps (Rio Locsin) and Dodoy (Edgar Mortiz) were the ones who let Serena in his room so they could talk and fix their issues.

The couple also asked Simon to say sorry to Serena. However, Simon couldn't say it and instead organized a meeting with Serena for a presentation.

Serena and Simon were supposed to meet at 5 p.m. This didn't push through because Simon had an emergency meeting with Hannah (Franchesca Floreindo) and a couple.

Joseph Marco also made his first appearance on the Kapamilya show. His character, however, is yet to be reveal his name. The episode ended with a heated conversation between Simon and Joseph Marco's character.

So how did both shows fare in the ratings game? Which show gained the most percentage of viewership? Well, you're guess is as good as mine. The LizQuen series,  which is being shown in the network associated with Kantar/TNS captured the nationwide rating with 35% versus 15.5% of Song-Song tandem.

AGB Urban Luzon rating, meanwhile, shows that the Kapuso Koreanovela earned a slightly higher rating with 22% as against Kapamilya's 20.4%.

Enrique Gil And Liza Soberano Spread 'Sweet Love' Across Europe Via 'Dolce Amore: Destiny Tour'
The Filipino Channel (TFC) continues to spread the love to Filipinos worldwide by bringing its widely followed shows to Filipinos in every part of the globe.  Starting off with the "JaDine Love World Tour" in March, TFC now seals its destiny of being the purveyor of homegrown content as it brings the thrill and excitement of "Dolce Amore: Destiny Tour" this June in four key cities in Europe.

According to ABS-CBN Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa Kai V. Rodriguez, TFC started reaching out to the overseas Filipino audience through events that leverage on the entertainment value of world-class programs early this year.  Rodriguez says "TFC's thrust is to make its core service continuously evolve with the needs and wants of our customers.  One of these is their call to bring the level of entertainment that eachteleserye brings to the worldwide audience, live."

Rodriguez adds, "Equipped with ABS'CBN's content expertise, TFC tries to replicate this through our events.  'Dolce Amore' is one of our choices because it speaks of a story of a Filipina who loses her identity in a foreign land and how she remains passionate in finding her identity.  While her story is not exactly the same as every Filipino's, it tells of ourkababayans' determination and resilience."

This time, TFC brings no less than this season's top-rater "Dolce Amore" where the main character played by Liza Soberano is Filipina Serena/Monica who may have been raised by her Italian adoptive parents, but continues to search for her roots and real identity.

Childhood penpal Jose Vicente "Tenten" Ibarra played by Kapamilya Heartthrob Enrique Gil is also like Serena, missing a link from the past.  Their search brings them together and apart but their love always seems to find a way to bring them together.

During the "Dolce Amore" concert LizQuen will sing the songs from the teleserye where Tenten plays a musician: "Muling Magakalayo," "Your Love (originally sung by Alamid and interpreted by Juris for the teleserye).  Joining LizQuen in some of the "Destiny Tour" legs is Matteo Guidicelli who completes the love triangle created in the teleserye.

Aside from bringing the songs made memorable by "Dolce Amore," the "Destiny Tour" will also let our kababayans win an opportunity to sing with their favorite teleserye's stars
by submitting 1 to 2-minute video of themselves singing "Ikaw" by Yeng Constantino or "Maging Sino ka Man" by Erik Santos with or without background music or musical instrument and uploading them on Facebook and tagging TFC Europe's official page.

Participants must fill out the form at bit.ly/DolceAmoreOpenMic and click submit for their entry to qualify. The video with the most likes will win.  Other prizes at stake are two free VIP tickets and two photo op badges.

Meantime, "Dolce Amore" merchandise items will also be available at the Destiny World Tour's four venues.
Filipinos in Europe are also destined for greatness as well because "Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)" Season 12 will also conduct auditions in Yorkshire, and Milan.
