'Tawag Ng Tanghalan' Finds A Gem In Rice Farmer Noven Belleza


Noven Belleza, a rice farmer from Victorias City, Negros Occidental is the newest "Tawag ng Tanghalan" champion beating defending champion Babylyn Mauhay on Saturday, July 23.

Noven got an average score of 96 percent with performance of the Bee Gees' classic "To Love Somebody" as against Babylyn's 92.2 percent after singing Shirley Bassey's "I Who Have Nothing."

Belleza, whose family is living off a weekly income of P1,000, said he joined the singing contest to pay for home repairs. Touched by his story, comedian Vice Ganda promised Belleza that he would pay for the tuition fee of his four younger siblings next year.

As the new defending champion, Belleza will return to the "It's Showtime" stage on Monday. He will need five straight wins to secure an automatic place in the semifinals.

After securing a spot in the third semifinals round of It's Showtime's hit segment "Tawag ng Tanghalan," Jennie Gabriel was sent home after Adelene Rabulan, a teen singer from Bulacan defeated her on Thursday, July 14.

Jennie who performed Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time" bowed to Adelene, who rendered a booming version of Yeng Constantino's "Ikaw".

Jennie Gabriel, Angel Locsin's Kalokalike, Receives Standing Ovation From Music Icons In 'Tawag Ng Tanghalan'

Comedy bar singer and Angel Locsin's kalokalike Jennie Gabriel received a standing ovation from the "Tawag ng Tanghalan" judges on Thursday for her impressive performance of Joey Albert's classic hit "Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin."

Gabriel bagged her third straight win after getting a high score of 95.8% against daily winner Genalyn Borja with 89.6% points.

The latest semifinalists of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” are set to clash in the Quarter Two semifinals week-long showdown of the original Pinoy singing competition starting on Monday (June 6) on the Kapamilya noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
