Former Kapamilya Singer Surrenders To Authorities On Drug-Related Case

Former Kapamilya singer Jay-R Siaboc surrendered to local authorities in Toledo City, Cebu on Tuesday in the face of the government's intensified campaign against illegal drugs, police said.

Toledo City police Chief Samuel Mina confirmed to ABS-CBN News that Siaboc, together with his cousin, turned himself in at their station.

According to Mina, Siaboc was part of the more than 200 drug users and pushers who surrendered to them on Tuesday. Mina added that Siaboc decided to surrender after hearing allegations on social media that he is a notorious drug pusher.

He denied the allegations of selling drugs but confessed about his addiction to it. Siaboc narrated that because of the nature of his job as a band singer traveling from one place to another, he was exposed to illegal drugs.

Together with the other users and pushers who surrendered in the city, Siaboc signed an oath to stop using illegal drugs.

Siaboc, best known for his song "Kada Uli Hilot," was one of the scholars of the 2006 talent search "Pinoy Dream Academy," where he finished runner-up to winner, Yeng Constantino.

Since the first day of the anti-drug campaign "Oplan Tokhang," Toledo Police operatives were able to record 528 surenderees. - ABS-CBN
