Zambales soil used in Chinese construction activities in Scarborough

According to incumbent Zambales Governor Amor Deloso, he claimed that the soil and other materials used by China in constructing the reclamation projects in Scarborough Shoal, known locally as Bajo de Masinloc, came from his province Zambales.

In an interview with Radyo Inquirer, Deloso said that three mountains in the province were the sources of the materials used in the reclamation project in the disputed territory. The governor hit his forerunner Hermogenes Ebdane for supposedly allowing the selling of soil and boulders to China. “Siyempre may kumita diyan, imposibleng wala, hindi naman hahakot lang ng hahakot ng lupa kung walang ibinabayad (Of course, there were people who benefited from the selling, it would be impossible if there were none, they won’t get soil if there was no payment),” said Deloso on Tuesday.

The provincial chief executive said that at first, massive boulders from Zambales will be shipped to the shoal and then thrown into the sea to serve as the bedrock. Then, the soil from the mountains will be dumped so that China can begin its reclamation activities. Deloso has suspended mining permits in his province. Via: INQUIRER
