Palawan grandmother could be the world’s oldest person at 118 years old


Playing the flute to relieve stress, eating mostly fruits and vegetables and spending time with her grandchildren may be what helped this Palawan-based lola reach a staggering 118 years of age.

Francisca Susano of Puerto Princesa City was born on September 11, 1897 in Negros, could be the world’s oldest person. Her records, however, have yet to be verified by international bodies such as The Guinness World Records or the Gerentology Research Group.

Susano got married at 14 and bore 14 children. She is now in Negros to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, ABS-CBN News reports.

Following the passage of the Centenarian Act of 2016 signed by former President Benigno S. Aquino III, Susano and other centenarians in the Philippines will be the recipient of a cash one-time grant of PHP100,000 and a felicitation letter from the President of the Philippines.

Currently, the recognized world’s oldest person is Emma Morano of Italy, as confirmed by Guinness World Records. She is 116 years old and was born on November 29, 1899.
